ASHRAE Technology Award: Data Center Dilemma
TCS wanted to create a larger data center, but its building didnt seem to have adequate remaining power in its electrical substation, and it lacked space for the additional generators and chillers that a conventional data center would require. TCS used chimney cabinets instead of open racks, which convey all the warm air produced by the equipment they contain directly into the return air plenum. Without hot air recirculation, the center was able to use a chillerless cooling system.Citation: ASHRAE Journal, vol. 55, no. 3, March 2013
