CSI -- National CAD Standard Version 3.1 CD
The U.S. National CAD Standard version 3.1 (NCS) is comprised of The American Institute of Architects (AIA) CAD Layer Guidelines, the Construction Specification Institutes (CSI) Uniform Drawing System (Modules 1-8), the Tri-Service Plotting Guidelines, as promulgated by the U.S. Department of Defense CAD/GIS Technology Center. The introduction was prepared by the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS). NCS 3.1 coordinates the efforts of the building design and construction industry by classifying electronic building design data consistently. This allows streamlined communication among owners and design and construction project teams. The result is reduced costs associated with developing and maintaining individual office standards and transferring building data from CAD applications to facility management applications. A National CAD Standard also offers greater efficiency in the design and construction process. The CAD Layer Guidelines (by AIA) discuss layer name format, and provide exhaustive layer lists for over twenty types of layers. They include new layer lists for survey/mapping, geotechnical, civil, civil works, landscape, structural, fire protection, plumbing, mechanical, and telecommunications. Another component of this Standard is The Uniform Drawing System that has been updated to reflect MasterFormat 2004 Edition, CSIs Uniform Drawing System (UDS). It is a standardized system for organizing and presenting building design information. This flexible off-the-shelf resource is used to organize and manage construction drawings for virtually any project and project delivery method, for the entire life cycle of a facility. The National CAD Standard version 3.1 (NCS) is available in CD-ROM format only.Opened software cannot be returned for refund or credit.Citation: Non-ASHRAE CD
