SA-12-C022 -- Energy Modeling Basics: A Brave New World for Young Building Modeling Professionals
With several building programs requiring validation in design energy use prior to construction, energy modeling professional skill sets are currently in demand now more than ever. However, several young college graduates that will enter the energy modeling field will have received little to no training prior to beginning their career. Before these young professionals jump into advanced and intricate projects, they will need to learn the fundamentals of creating, manipulating, and finalize energy modeling skills into a perfected craft. These skills include understanding envelope component calculations, system sizing, internal and process loads, building user operating profiles, and energy rate structures; as well as general energy model start-up requirements.
