Analyses of trends of cyclic data are performed as part of an evaluation of the DOE test procedure for residential air conditioners. Expected relationships are obtained between the seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) and steady state energy efficiency ratios. An error analysis is done to determine the sources of error in the test procedure. Data for the temperature drop across the evaporator are used to obtain the transient parameters of an air conditioner.
