PH-2522 -- Fusion Reactor Chilled Water Cooling System
This paper describes the selection and design of a chilled water refrigeration plant, withcooling storage capacity, for the removal of heat generated in an experimental fusion reactor(Tokamak). High-energy, short-duration DC electrical pulses are impressed on copper coils(called field coils) surrounding the doughnut-shaped vacuum vessel. The fusion reaction takesplace in the plasma contained within the vacuum vessel. Plasma is the fourth state of matterand is an ionized gas at high temperature.Citation: ASHRAE Transactions, Volume 85, Part 1, Philadelphia, PA
