DE-2543 (GIA 44) -- A Numerical Design Scheme for Concentric Heat Exchangers
A one-dimensional, finite-difference scheme was developed to analyze temperature and pressure distribution in concentric heat exchangers. Temperature distributions are developed through transient conditions to steady state. Variable fluid and transport properties are used. Axial conduction in the walls and convective transfer across interfaces are included. The program analyzes either parallel or counterflow configurations. Entry region effects are determined for bends and joints within the heat exchanger as well as at the entrance. Incompressible liquids and compressible gases can be used as the heat exchanger fluids.Citation: ASHRAE Transactions, Volume 85, Part 2, Detroit, MI
