2009 ASHRAE Technology Awards: Lab for Learning
The Science and Technology Facility at the National Renewable Energy Laboratorys (NREL) campus in Golden, Colo., is the first LEED Platinum certified federal building and won a 2009 ASHRAE Technology Award. Specific design and energy-saving goals were clearly established prior to the construction of the three-story building, which houses a laboratory research facility and offices. The target for the design team was an additional 40% energy savings beyond a similar lab building, using Standard 90.1-1999. Units: DualCitation: ASHRAE Journal, vol. 51, no. 9, September 2009
