2009 ASHRAE Technology Awards: Improving Efficiency in Ice Hockey Arenas

Quebec has 450 arenas, which are used about 100 hours a week and consume on average 1,500 MWh/year. In most small municipalities, arenas are the public buildings that have the highest annual energy use and consumption. This months cover article discusses why some arenas there consume three times more energy than others.
