During the past year, concepts of sustainability have received
a great deal of emphasis within ASHRAE. This article explores
one aspect of sustainability in the context of industrial ammonia
refrigeration systems. Approaches of gathering and using heat normally discarded from a refrigeration system are discussed and evaluated.
