1.1 ScopeThis standard defines a networked location system that provides X-Y coordinates and data telemetry. Thesystem utilizes RTLS transmitters that autonomously generate a direct-sequence spread spectrum radiofrequency beacon. These devices may be field programmable and support an optional Exciter mode thatallows modification of the rate of location update and location of the RTLS device. This standard also definesthese modes, but does not define the means by which they are accomplished. These are left asvendor-optional features. These beacons shall transmit at a power level that can facilitate reception atranges of at least 300 meters open field separation between the transmitter and receiver. Each receivershall be capable of receiving and processing data from a minimum of 120 tag beacons per second. SuchRTLS transmitters shall be fully compliant with US radio frequency regulatory requirements and shallhave the broadest possible international frequency compliance. RTLS enables the user to locate, trackand manage assets within the infrastructure of the system on a real-time basis. The nominal location dataprovided by the RTLS shall be within a 3-meter radius of the actual location of the transmitting RTLStransmitter. The RF transmissions are low power, compatible with, and shall not interfere with existingstandardized IEEE 802.11 wireless communication networks, as per artifact test document, and systemscompliant with ANSI INCITS 256.
