This Standard applies to all machines and associated equipment used in all applications where hygiene risks to the consumer of the product can occur. The requirements are to be applied by designers and manufacturers who in turn are to provide guidance to the users for the intended use of these machines and equipment. Excluded from this Standard are requirements for the uncontrolled egress of microbiological agents from the machine.
