Full Description

This method determines the resistance to insect pests of textile materials containing wool or other susceptible fibres. The term "insect pests" as used in this method applies to the larvae of clothes moths and carpet beetles. (Wide use has been made of the larvae of the webbing clothes moth (Tineola bissellielea, Hummel or Tinea pellionella, Finn.) as a test insect. However, although the clothes moth test does not necessarily indicate resistance to attack by carpet beetles, the carpet beetle test adequately measures resistance to both types of insect and has therefore been specified in this method.)

This method may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this method has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use.
