ANSI/X9 TR-4-2004
This X9 Technical Report is an effort to establish a common understanding for consumers and businesses for any interstate and foreign commerce transaction in the use of signatures, contracts or other records in electronic form. SPeRS was prepared by the SPeRS Drafting Committee of the Electronic Financial Services Council in 2003. The resulting document, with contributions from over 30 companies, representing a broad range of industries, including mortgage, insurance, securities, and technology, and most of the major financial service trade associations, provides guidance for engaging in business to business and business to consumer transactions electronically. X9 TR 4-2004 focuses on five areas: Authentication; Obtaining Consent to do Business; Establishing Agreements Online, and Meeting Notice and Disclosures Requirements; Electronic Signatures; and Record Retention.
