Full Description

This standard applies to four grades of oxygenated gasoline to which no lead or phosphorus compounds have been added and in which the oxygenate consists essentially of methanol and cosolvent. They are inteded for use in spark ignition engines under a wide range of climatic conditions.

Some fuel systems may not be fully compatible with fuel produced to this standard. Users are advised to consult the motor vehicle owners' manual or the equipment manufacturer.

Oxygenated gasoline containing methanol when being operated under conditions of high load and high speed can exhibit a lower antiknock performance than gasoline of equivalent antiknock index as specified in CAN/CGSB-3.5.

The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This standard does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use.
