Full Description
This standard presents a modification of the complete Canada Standard sizing system described in CAN/CGSB-49.201. More specifically, the control body dimensions trunk length and crotch height have been replaced by the size indicator dimensions back-waist length and waist height, respectively, to make the system conform more closely to present trade practice.
Sizes are defined in terms of size indicator body dimensions and these dimensions are employed as the means of designating the size.
The sizes are grouped into ranges and sub-ranges and for ease of reference, letters have been assigned to identify each range and numbers to denote sub-ranges.
This standard gives an indication of the degrees of fit which the sizing system can provide with respect to certain of the size indicator body dimensions.
Charts showing the relationships between the number of sizes in the system and the size ranges required to include almost all women in Canada are given in Appendix A.
The distribution and approximate frequencies of occurence of body types in the sample of women on which the sizing system is based are given in Appendix B. This is intended as a guide to manufacturers and retailers in the selection of sizes of greatest commercial interest.
A description of the derivation of the basic Canada Standard sizing system for women's wearing apparel and tables of all necessary body measurements may be found in CAN/CGSB-49.201.
A selection of the specific sizes and ranges which are considered to be of greatest commercial interest is contained in CAN/CGSB-49.203.
